“Failure Not an Option” Annual 3

Hello, my name is Freya. I am a writer and performer and generally quite a nice person.

I have written one book, called Head Girl, which is NOT FOR CHILDREN. It has swear words and sad adult stuff, so you’re not allowed to read it until you’re like, thirty. That’s what I say to the kids I get to look after sometimes, Rune and Lizzy. Children should spend their time reading lovely things, like Diana Wynne Jones (my favourite writer of all time). Adults should too, actually (I do), but they can also sometimes read my book.

Some of my other favourite writers are Jaclyn Moriarty and Jonathan Stroud. If you haven’t read their books, you should drop everything and run to the library and get out The Extremely Inconvenient Adventures of Bronte Mettlestone and The Screaming Staircase. If you don’t do it right now, I wash my hands of you! Just kidding, you can take your time (but you do have to do it).

For Annual 3, I got to write the diaries of two kids, Fizzy and Reuben. To help me, I read my own diaries from when I was their age. I wrote lots of diaries when I was younger, mostly about which boys I had crushes on and about how much I loved my friends. I used to leave them lying around in case someone decided to read them and publish them, but no one was interested. Strange. It’s taken this long to get my diaries published, and they’re not even my own! I don’t mind though.

Something else about me is that I have moved to Australia! I lived in Te Whanganui-a-Tara for TWENTY-NINE YEARS before that (my whole life). Now I live in Sydney with my wonderful girlfriend. I have started writing songs and playing them on my electric guitar, so the next time you hear about me I will probably be a rockstar.
