“Failure Not an Option” Annual 3

I’m an illustrator and designer with an interest in portraits and patterns. I grew up in a little rural community in the Waikato but moved to Auckland to study design, where I currently live with my daughter.

I’m fascinated by what a face reveals about a subject’s personality, thoughts, and history. When I draw the face of someone I don’t know, I try and read the face to give me clues about the person underneath.

My patterns often get inspired by walks in nature. I study and photograph plants that catch my eye, and if possible, collect specimens to draw back in my studio. My favourite tools are 4B pencils, ink, acrylic paint, and Adobe Photoshop.

In my down-time, I like to take naps, watch comedy, and play netball with my mates.
