SALLY BOLLINGER
Author of ‘Parsley Magic’
Sally Bollinger has been drawing ever since she could hold a pen and plans to keep drawing until her hands fall off. She has drawn a lot of comics, mostly for herself, but hopes to be drawing comics for lots of people in the future. Many of her stories are Shakespeare adaptations or fairy tales with a feminist spin. Sally also makes Shakespeare inspired web-series with a collective called The Candle Wasters. Their last three web-series have all been comedy-dramas about high schoolers and university students dealing with the big friendships and romances in their lives.

Ten-year-old-Sally obsessively read Deltora Quest as she liked being able to figure out the puzzles alongside the characters. She read any book that was brought to life with pictures or with the word “Chronicles” in the title, like The Spiderwick Chronicles, The Edge Chronicles and Septimus Heap. For all three of those series the pictures are yet another excellent part of a very immersive fantasy world.
23-year-old-Sally would highly recommend the comics Nimona and Lumberjanes by Noelle Stevenson, who writes and draws lots of awesome ladies. Recently Sally been re-reading her childhood fantasy books, and is loving the ones with capable heroines, like Tamora Pierce's Song of the Lioness Quartet and Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials Trilogy. She also wants you to know she is a Hufflepuff.
