Simon kaan

Simon Kaan is of Chinese, Ngāi Tahu, and Pākehā ancestry. He graduated with a Diploma of Fine Art majoring in printmaking at Otago Polytechnic in 1993 and has exhibited widely in New Zealand.
Land, sea, and sky are recurring features in Simon’s painting. He describes his painting technique as being like preparing an etching plate, where paint is smeared across surfaces like ink over metal.
Simon lives in Dunedin. He loves being in the sea – swimming or surfing.
